Maceira, Torres Vedras

Heritage and Inspiration

Part of my family roots and photographic journey originates in Maceira, Torres Vedras, located in the Oeste region of Portugal.

A parish of unique character, where thermal, river, and maritime elements intertwine to define the identity of the territory. From prehistoric caves to the cliffs that shape the landscape, and the beach of Porto Novo, where British troops landed before the Battle of Vimeiro, Maceira reveals a rich and diverse heritage, deeply rooted in collective memory.

Extending across hills and valleys to the cliffs that follow the course of the Alcabrichel River, culminating at Porto Novo Beach, this region presents a singular natural diversity. Its light, geography, and rhythm create a setting of strong aesthetic and cultural value, consistently reflected in my work.

The photographic approach developed in this context is guided by a clear commitment: to respect, enhance, and preserve. Each image seeks not only to capture a moment, but to convey the essence of the place, promoting a contemporary interpretation of its natural heritage.

This perspective is part of a broader vision of territorial appreciation, where photography becomes a tool for communication, promotion, and memory, contributing to strengthening local identity and its projection.
