The Ideal Sunset

The Ideal Sunset

The ideal sunset is not the one you see and wish you could have been there, but the one we watch and store in our memories. It may not have been the most intense, but it is ideal because it is part of our experiences.

Serra de Montejunto

Serra de Montejunto

A place once full of trees, battered by flames a few years ago. However, it remains intact at some places, where there is a set of species of fauna and flora characteristic of the region.

Countryside and Beach

Countryside and Beach

beyond the dunes and cliffs of the coastal zone of Porto Novo and Santa Rita, the hills rise as a result of tectonic activity of a singular peculiarity, becoming an icon of the region. A contrast between the verdant green of native species and the blue where the land ends and the sea begins, as Luís Vaz de Camões wrote.

Walking in the countryside

Walking in the countryside

Walking in the countryside is much more than just walking. It is to engage in communion with nature and to meet beings and species that completely ignore the Man. Because they are in their habitat, focused on their lives and tasks, too busy to pay attention to the intruder.

Really near the infrared, which is not visible to us, there’s a spectrum that equipment can register. It is the light that is not seen, but is reflected by the foliage, so intensely that, under the right conditions, provides fantastic pink or white tones.

Wild Flowers

A burst of tones in these natural planted seaside gardens. In the distance, you can see the nuances of flowers. However, as you walk you can see them closer and closer to the point where you can smell them and hear the leaves waving in the breeze. It is an immersive and healthy experience that I recommend.

Spring

Spring

Spring

The contrast of red poppies and green ears of wheat reminds us that Nature awakes for another cycle.

Earth’s Day

Earth’s Day

Earth, too, is like these little bubbles that support life!

Praia de Santa Cruz

Praia de Santa Cruz

Place of my childhood, to which I often return and photograph. These are moments of great tranquillity at low tide that I capture in these images, revealing a serene landscape.

Low Tide

Low Tide

Where once thousands of sea creatures used to inhabit, there is a shortage today, and it is almost rare to find rocks full of life. As in almost everything, the Man has an ominous role in exploitation to extinction. One day, when it’ll be too late, we will visit a museum that will remember these beings. On the grey, bare stones there will only exist bits of rope and plastic to appreciate.

What are we looking for?

What are we looking for?
What are we looking for?

What are we looking for?

In the dark, there are only shadows and figures. In our lives under regular circumstances we prefer the light. We are pleased, whether it is the brightness of the moon or the intense dawn. Then we are also bearers of our own lights and ideas, illuminating each other.

Chilly Winter Mornings

Chilly Winter Mornings

Early in the morning at sunrise, after a cold night, we can appreciate the frost that crystallizes on the plants. This day, Maceira woke up again in white, with below zero temperatures until the sun warms and melts all the crystals.

Rays of Light

Walking towards the Light is a coincidence between life and photography.

Autumn

Cogumelos - Mushrooms

Autumn

What season do you like most? After a whole frenzy growth, blooming and fruiting, there is an interlude for most species. In this final stretch, the mushrooms pop, reminding me of the smell of earth and moss, remitting to the end of the year as well.

Although I like spring for its burst of colour, autumn is one that also allows for great photographic experiences.

The sea is not always blue. In this day, it was white from the agitated foam. A perfect canvas to paint with the warm tones of the last sunbeams.

Moonlight

Moonrise

I particularly love the balance between the light of the Moon and the sky that has not completely darkened yet. Here, I captured in the margins of Alcabrichel River the mirroring of the cliff of Maceira on the calm waters with beautiful reflections of moonlight.

Comet 46P/ Wirtanen – “Ghostly Green Comet”

I am sharing my take on the passage of this little comet 49P/Wirtanen, also known as the “Ghostly Green Comet”. On December 16, 2018, Wirtanen passed 11,620,000 km from Earth (it will be the closest to Earth in 70 years).

Also visible in the photo are the Pleiades (the seven sisters), or M45, in the constellation Taurus.
